Good Friday and Easter 2019

Good Friday 3pm 19 April 2019
Jesus saith, I thirst.
This word of suffering and anguish was the shortest of His seven sayings on the Cross. It was very expressive and very tragic - Jesus, the God-man in need of a drink!

He cried out, fulfilling God’s Word as prophesied by the Psalmist 1000 years before. He learnt obedience through sufferings. So we should pray and live as He lived, “Not my will but Thy will be done, O Lord.”

Jesus’ thirst was both physical and spiritual. Physical because it was a basic human instinct after those long hours of physical and emotional torture.

Spiritual because His “thirst” was the effect of His agony in the fierce heat of God’s wrath upon Him for our sins. Yes, God the Father had made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, so that we may be made the righteousness of God in Him. He thirsted so that we will not be thirsty. Our thirst for God can be quenched because Jesus was thirsty for us.

Jesus promises, “... he that believes in Me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). Let us believe in Jesus ever the more, because He not only died for us, He rose up from the dead and lives to save us to the uttermost.

Please be in the church of God’s choice for you this coming Good Friday 19 April 2019 and Easter Sunday 21st April 2019 to worship Him and to bring others to Him.

If you so desire, please come and visit us 3pm, Good Friday and Easter Sunday at Hope Baptist, the community that cares and shares. Please read the invitation and do pray for us as we pray to reach pre-believers for whom Jesus died and rose again. You can bring your loved ones and friends.

God bless you and all yours greatly this wonderful season. If you need any prayer or help, please let us know. Praying much for you all.

Your servant in Christ Jesus,
Rev. Goh SF. (John 12:24)
