Training Nationals for Nationals
Hi friend,
Training Nationals for Nationals in integrity and skills (Psalm 78:72)

How times flies.  We are three months into the New Year.  Surely, we are reminded that our lives are as flowers in the field and as vapor in the air, and if we are chasing after the things of the world, we will be chasing after the wind.  Thus it behooves us to buy back time and use our every opportunity and influence to hasten the Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  The Kingdom of the Lord requires haste and we must work while yet it is day, for night will surely come when we cannot work.

1.      MEDAN, INDONESIA (18-22 Feb).  We had great times with some 55 pastors and leaders.  Our training involved giving an IDEA to them – Instruction, Demonstration, Experience created, and Assessment.  In the Teaching of the Law of the Teacher, after the instruction and demonstration, we concluded with Team teaching and assessment.  The best way to teach them to teach was to allow them to teach.  Thus it was a great joy to to see them bonding and teaming up to teach.  They would never forget that experience.  We ended the sessions with foot-washing and the Lord’s Supper.  Again, we saw the humbling and the freeing of God’s leaders to lives of servant-leadership like our Master.  Praise the Lord.

About 32 are planning to graduate by this September.  With 2 more sessions to go till then, we would be having some 50 altogether to be graduating.  Praise the good Lord for using us to train Nationals for Nationals.

2.     KATHMANDU, NEPAL (8-15 March).  Pastors Yap Beng Shin and Simon N. will train some 65 pastors and leaders in the midst of people that are undergoing some difficult transitions.  We pray to provide leadership, love and hope to these leaders so that they in turn will impart such to their own.  Pastor Yap will train on Follow-up discipleship, the immediate steps after the salvation experience.  Through this, we are adding a step in the process of intentional discipleship.  Pastor Simon works on the mission emphasis, as he trains them on the Life of Paul and his missionary journeys.  In our global village, Nepalese are also having their Diaspora, scattering into places like Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.  We are praying that the good Lord will thrust some into other nations.
3.     SINGAPORE  (21-23 March).  Back home, we will begin the Diploma of Ministry program – 3 modules per year in March, July and October – 8 modules will be needed for the Diploma or Graduate Diploma.  The emphasis will be on development of character and of ministry.

We pray to train Leaders of FAITH – Faithful, Available, Initiating, Teachable and Hungry (passion for God and people).  These are special God-led leaders who desire to make a difference in ministry and service for the Lord.

First Module:  March 21-23 at Sembawang BP Church, 9 Kalidasa Avenue (Sembawang Teachers’ Estate).
Class times will be interactive on Principles of Leadership in Nehemiah.
Dates and times are (1) Thursday, March 21, 7pm to 10 pm; (2) Friday, March 22, 7pm to 10pm; and (3) Sat. March 23, 9am to 5pm.

Then these leaders will work on projects of growth and ministry for the next few months.  After that, there will be reports to be made in the next module.  In the interim, the leaders will be followed up by mentors.

The first qualification is that you are a growing disciple of Jesus with qualities of FAITH.  You need to have some basic Bible foundation and are in place of influence in ministry and service.  Then you have to know the leading and the nudging of the Holy Spirit, that this is the training that He is leading you into.  Pastors and leaders may desire to recommend your leaders for this great training.  This training may be a baby step for some leaders to be led into attending a degree program and into full-time ministry.

4.     KUCHING, MALAYSIA (29-31 March).  Good News Rallies will be held among the Dyak-Kadazan-Dusun of Sarawak.  A good number of churches will combine to host the Good Friday and Easter Rallies.  Caleb Tan and I will have the unique privilege of ministering to them.

Rallies will be held Good Friday, 29 March, 9am and 7pm and Saturday, 30 March, 7pm.  Easter Sunday, we will celebrate with Pastor Tram Epoi and his good people.  The Theme will be “Power of the Cross”.

Please pray for and with us that God be greatly glorified as souls will be saved and God’s people built up to win more to Him.  Jesus will not die in vain.  HE shall see the travail of His soul and shall be satisfied.  To God be the glory!
