God’s Vision for Asia Seminary for Ministry (ASM), the training Arm of Faith at Work Fellowship, Singapore
A. Mission:
To train Nationals leaders for and to Nationals for integrity and skills (Psalm 78:72), unto the praise of His Glory (Eph. 1:14).
When we train followers, there will be additions; but when we train leaders, there will be multiplications.
B. Objectives:
1. To provide theological training, rightly dividing the Word of Truth (2 Tim. 2:15).
2. To equip with skills for the work of the ministry (Eph.4:12).
3. To facilitate personal and ministry development by
mentorship (2 Tim. 2:2).
C. Philosophy:
1. ASM is a seminary without borders. It is a mobile seminary. A team of trainers will go to a place where God leads and will leave it when the ministry is completed. We release the National pastors into ministry. At present, training is online.
2. It primarily caters to pastors and leaders that are in the harvest field but could not afford to spend full time in study. We bring the training to them.
3. The training consists of 2 modular sessions (four credit hours) in a week of stay-in studies. Usually there are two such training per year. Expenses for the stay-in are provided. Now Online classes and materials are for students to log in. An archive of such training helps many to retrieve the materials for their own growth and teaching.
4. Trainers are mature Bible believing practitioners in their field of giftedness.
5. Degree Certificates are awarded: MMin. (32 credit hours); MRE (64 credit hours). We may offer Graduate Diploma for Christian Ministry for graduates (32 credit hours). Others can attend and be refreshed and renewed by the teaching. These are free courses.
D. Requirements for Certificates:
1. Participants must have at least a Bachelor degree of any discipline and five years of ministry experiences.
2. Those that do not have a Bachelor degree but have a good ministry record will be assessed individually.
3. Class attendance (at least 80%), participation, quizzes and assignments will form the bulk of the assessment system.
E. Partnerships needed:
1. Prayer Partners. Please pray for God’s Trainers, participants, places of training, online training and finances.
2. Training Partners. Please pray for gifted ministry trainers that will invest a week annually or do online teaching in their busy schedule to train Nationals.
3. Resource Partners. We do need books, resource material and programs to constantly upgrade our Trainers and to train leaders.
4. Financial Partners. Our trainers go by faith, trusting God to provide. We are also responsible for the expenses of the week’s board and lodging of training. Please pray that God will supply our needs. You can invest through monthly giving or occasional gifts as the Lord of Harvest will lead you.
F. Quick Checks:
1. These last ten or so precious years, the good Lord had privileged us to train in Medan of Indonesia (four times annually), Yangon and Mandalay of Myanmar (once annually in each place) and Kathmandu of Nepal (three times annually). There were graduation services held too.
2. The last two years we held seven series of online classes of five nights, each series of two hours. We have the privilege and joy of reaching new pastors of NE India, Bhutan and Africa, including those leaders in Malaysia, Mynamar, Indonesia and Philippines. These online training will go on in 2022.
3. A new training module will held in Silliguri, West Bengal, 22-24 March 2022. This will be done by video conferencing. Some 50 pastors and leaders will gather and will view the training and then pray and discuss the training. If this is successful, we could duplicate such training in other places and at other times. There will be new expenses and experiences involved.
4. We have also calls from Kenya, Congo, Indonesia and Cambodia for in-person training. We are praying for God to direct and bless in His will, provision and timing.
Please continue to pray for and with us that 2022 and this precious and gracious decade will see the good Lord doing greater and better things in and through us for His glory and for His Gospel ministry (Jeremiah 32:27; 33:3) - the best is yet to be till Jesus comes. Maranatha.
